Ernie and Reta Psikla left their home in Alberta, Canada, in 1993 and became Black Meadow Landing Snowbirds. Soon Ernie started work building rock walls to beautify the camp. George Field, the BML concession owner, soon recognized his expertise and dedication and provided heavy equipment. Over the years, various volunteers helped to landscape this oasis in the desert.

In 2022 Reta and Ernie realized they could no longer spend their winters in their beloved community. Soon Ernie started writing down his memories of the park's early years. He enlisted me (Marjane Ambler) to talk to people and collect photos. We are happy to share this information in this blog. We welcome your comments and corrections.
